Weekend Recap..

It has been a pretty chill weekend here on the Greene front. On Friday after a stressful day at work; I'm convinced my 30 year old colleagues are completely lack of communication skills. One feels is necessary to point out every single flaw or mistake someone else makes, but then doesn't see fault in her mistakes. Another finds it ok to send emails that come off as a personal attack which leads another colleague to tae things personally and become upset (not that I totally understand her taking things to heart). Anyways, I digress...so we spent Friday finding the best deal on a new stove. Two Lowe's and Home Depot later, we got the stove we wanted originally at the 2nd Loew's along with all the other home improvement stuff (and no interest for 12 months). Then on Saturday, since Circuit City has filed for bankruptcy and is closing its remaining stores, we decided to take a trip to Circuit City to look for a new laptop (between the problems with my old Dell and then the Acer crashing Friday night). Circuit City was ridiculous! Line was long and all through the store, not enough registers to accomodate all the shopping, not enough salespeople, and of course the "deals" were nonexistent. So we went to Best Buy and bought a new Acer laptop, a new wireless printer (since it was 1/2 off with the purchase of the laptop) and the newest Office software and a sleeve for my laptop to be protected in my bag. Then we headed to Target so I could find a decent sized bag for all my books & materials for teaching since the bag I currently have is way too small. I found a super cute black bag that fits everything. Today, I finally found a pink agenda book with calendar and all the other necessities. Everything matches together perfect.
I spent last night finishing up my applications for admission and my FAFSA application. I have my interview call on Wednesday and from there I just need to write my essay and then wait for my acceptance. I am a bit nervous, but this seems like the best way to acheive my goal. I should start at Kaplan in February with my classes and then as long as I stay on a steady path, I can get my masters done in 18 months. With a nontraditional approach to getting my masters I worry a bit that I may not be taken seriously compared to someone with a master's from an actual college. I will do all my coursework online and electronically and avoid trying to fit any classes, lectures or person-person meetings into my already hectic schedule. The rest of today has been quiet. We just watched August Rush; awesome movie I highly recommend it. We're going to continue catching up on our Tv shows from last week and then of course we have bowling tonight. Bowling has been rough lately, but hopefully tonight will be good.

I need to vent about family matters so I will use another post later. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
