Family Weekend

Since our last few weekends (ok, who am I kidding...months!!!) have been crazy hectic, we decided this weekend to be our relaxing weekend. It was great to just spend quality time with the guys doing stuff around the area without being on a strict time schedule.

On Saturday, Husby, B and I got up to watch Husby coach Youth Bowling, and then we headed up north to do an errand. Since the weather was absolutely gorgeous and we were already beachside, we decided to grab lunch at a small eatery on the water and enjoy the weather some more. We went to Grills Waterside and had a nice tropical family lunch.

After lunch and the drive back, B crashed for his afternoon nap, so we took the time to get some stuff around the house done. When he woke up, it was time to get out in the fresh air. We went a few blocks down the road from our place to the park and went for a Nature Walk as a family.

Since the Gator game was not on until 8, and we still had some daylight, we decided to go to the playground down the road and let B burn off some of his energy. Husby rarely goes to the park with B (it's a Mommy thing B and I do during the days when I am home), I figured it would be a fun experience for him to see B interact at the park.

Which he then tried to climb back up since he saw Daddy do it

After the park, we headed for home so B could get in dinner and then we could settle in to watch the game. B made it through the 1st quarter and then he crashed for the night. He enjoyed what little of the game he watched (I think Husby & I should have followed B's lead and stopped watching after 1st quarter...but we sat through the agonizing defeat).

On Sunday, we did a quick family photo at a local portrait studio and then quick grocery trip. After the morning errands, we decided to again take advantage of the beautiful weather and went to the beach. Husby used to be an avid surfer in college and really has not found the time to go lately (in the last year-year and half), so it was his first time out in a LONG time. B and I hungout on the beach watching Husby paddle out and try to catch some waves. Then B decided to investigate the water's edge and play in the waves. After our beach visit, we grabbed a quick lunch and headed home to clean up (B passed out before we even got to lunch...hence the quick part) and then we had our routine bowling league night complete with our dinner routine at LD's.

Although some things did not go as planned, it was a great quiet weekend for some beautiful weather and family bonding. In 2 weeks we will be starting a new tradition of yearly family photo sessions at the Botanical Gardens of Husby & my alma mater. I'll be sure to post sneak peeks of what we'll be coordinating/wearing, a well as, the goodies once they are complete.

In the coming week I need to update the videos of B's "channel" and also start ironing out Christmas wishlists, as well as, discuss our holiday plans as these are my 2 stress points lately.

Weekend Update

So this weekend was hectic, yet relaxing at the same time. Husby bowled in the State Tournament. He did bowl over 600 series, so he was happy, but unfortunately the conditions of the lanes were not ideal. We are too sure he will place in anything, but he did win some side bet money, so that is always a plus. We had a great weekend at the tournament with some really awesome friends and are looking forward to future adventures (with baby in tow).

Here is a picture recap of the weekend:

Southgate Plaza
a random shopping center that looked like it belonged back in the 50's or 60's
Beautiful architecture however

Modern stores, not so modern store fronts and marquees

McDonald's
Probably an original sign

Husby looking awesome in his Green Shirt

His Bowling Team for the Tournament

The Entire Shores Team (early squad, late squad, spectators)

Husby and I decided we are going to bowl one more tournament together before Baby G arrives. It is a charity event for Breast Cancer held across the state near Cypress Gardens. Day 1 is a mixed doubles tournament where we have to bowl 3 games together and Day 2 is a women's only singles tournament with a unique format. I have to bowl 5 games on 5 different pairs of lanes. I am really looking forward to the experience of yet another tournament and spending a weekend away from "homebase". It also will be the first time Husby and I have bowled in a tournament together. We bowl league together and do well, but typically we bowl tournaments separate of one another (I bowled the women's county tournament with one of my girl friends, he bowled the state tournament with the guys). It should also be fun to attend this tournament since there is no pressure for ranks and a decent amount of proceeds get donated to a Breast Cancer fundraiser. Plus, the tournament sessions are early, so we will have the rest of the day to explore the area and relax and we are going over with a few of our bowling friends, so we can get some down time.

After Thursday of this week, I will be a pseudo stay-at-home. I am not fully a mom yet, so I cannot take that designation, but I will not be working for the rest of June, July and the beginning of August until classes start up again. Instead, I am hoping to focus on getting all my grad school work done, preparing things for Baby G's arrival (nursery projects, decorating, cleaning, straightening, organizing, etc.) and keeping up with my gym routine. Then in August (depending on when Baby G makes his arrival), I will return to teaching while finishing my final grad class and keep teaching until the doctor says no more or Baby G arrives. I am really looking forward to the break, but both Husby and I are nervous I will burnout at home quickly as I am not a homebody at all. We do have the tournament weekend away, July 4th festivities and then some visitors and all the baby classes to mix up the monotony, but we shall see. Only time will tell.

Week 15: Supposedly the Honeymoon Stage

Our next doctor's appointment is 2 weeks from yesterday. Things are going well. We spent part of the weekend with the in-laws in the Keys and then just had a lazy Sunday and Easter dinner with the in-laws and a close friend. Hubby started painting the nursery this week (started Monday evening and will hopefully finish tomorrow or Friday). I will post progress pictures as they come. It is definitely a work in progress but hopefully going to be awesome. We ordered our crib and dresser on Monday which also came with a changing pad and mattress and all the converting kits. I expect to take delivery in July. Hopefully this weekend Hubby will finish repairing his ceiling patch job and maybe start the first stage of the kitchen. We have agreed to do the kitchen in 3 sections, and we ordered the cabinets yesterday, so this weekend he may start demoing the old cabinets and organizing for the first wall of cabinets and move appliances. The second stage will probably not happen until October/November given everything else planned for this summer. I need to post some belly shots, but I keep forgetting. Soon, promise!

Weekend

It was Homecoming for the Gators, but we were unable to secure tickets, so we watched it from home. I was supposed to do my homework, but I barely made it through the readings. I haven't been feeling well (dizzy, nauseous, sore and achy). The Gators won, but the game was very close. It seems both Arkansas and UF made some mistakes in their game plan, but both teams were good and the game was good overall (Husby was yelling at the screen whenever they made a bad plan or the zebras made a bad call). SEC is still one of the best conferences and that is obvious with the teams. Just my thought. Still not feeling well today, but we are off to bowling and dinner in a bit.

Rambles...

It was definitely a long weekend and not necessarily in a bad way. Friday (post work) started rocky with a co-worker (and not a friend) called me screaming at me because I didn't remember to send her an email with the temperature data for one of the freezers in the lab downstairs. First off, I offered to d/l the data for my other coworker while she finished something off and she told me to email it to her when I had a chance. Second, this was at 4:15pm when I leave at 4:30. Third, I got sidetracked and helped my friend finish what she was doing so she could get out of work on time. Fourth, never once did this other coworker ask for the data. Fifth, if she was THAT worried, why doesn't she just go d/l the data herself? Ugh! And then she pretty much bitches me out because it's 5 o'clock on a Friday she "supposedly" needed the data ASAP because she was worried about her antibodies being ruined had the freezer had a major thaw down and wanted to make sure she had working antibodies for her experiment and if they were damaged she could reorder new ones from the CDC in time for her experiment. (OK we are in FL and the CDC's we work with are either in Atlanta, GA-same time zone as us or CO-2-3 hours behind us) ::Turns out she really didn't need the data until Monday morning to order new ones possibly from the CDC in CO and she told my friend she wanted the temp data early Monday morning:: OK hello? I get to work around 8:30-9am most mornings, therefore it's like before 6am in CO, so why the drama scene? I hate stupid people. Meanwhile she called me on my personal cell phone and was a complete bitch and I was 10 minutes from my house and there was no way I would turn around and drive the hour back to the lab, just to open the door so she could have that file. After that, my blood was boiling and I was a bit snappy to Greene, although he completely understood. We eventually got going on our Friday night errands of stops at the dive shop (so he can get his BC and my regulator fixed before our anniversary trip) and then a few other surf shops to find Greene a "shortie" wet suit for year-round diving and surfing. Three shops later he found one that fit and it was off to dinner at Olive Garden (OK, totally not supposed to be eating out a lot but lately been craving OG pasta). I had their mezzaluna and sausage entree (very good!) and Greene got his favorite fettuccine alfredo. We had leftovers for work this week so that was a bonus. Saturday, we installed the new concrete walkway and of course Greene over counted so we have 6 bags of concrete to return to the store. It looks good and he even leveled it so there are no lips or steps involved. After working on that almost all day, we kind of just lounged around that night. I wrote my grad essay and we caught up on TV. Sunday was uneventful. We got some errands done and the weekly grocery shopping adventure. Greene found a pizza stone he wanted and some other odds and ends at Bed, Bath and Beyond. He says he will be making homemade pizza this week, so I am looking forward to the night I come home to fresh made pizza after a long day of work and teaching. I bowled pretty well this week, 133, 152, 119 and so my average (121) may go up a bit more. We are doing pretty well as a team (6th as of last night) and we are starting to win more points (3/4 last night...when we usually only get 1 or 2) so hopefully we will climb to the top. It's all fun, so really place does not matter. I'm going home tonight to hopefully a relaxing night with some quick errands and then home to watch TV and work on the Advent calendar, I hope.

Have a great day!
