I just finished the alternate cover for the Boppy Pillow...
Just a few more sewing projects on the list....

Shopping has begun...
So, today was a pretty successful day. I got some things done around the house and then decided to run some errands. I sat down and went through our registries and organized them as to what items were on there and what store had the lowest price (or so the registry said). With the hard copy in hand, I went to scour my "deal spots". First stop was lunch at Panera (Baby G LOVES Panera...I think we need to invest in an "I heart Panera" onesie, jk). After a yummy lunch, off to Kohl's I went to scour their deals. I was able to get a cute 9 month outfit of a collared onesie and matching shorts, along with a pack of Soothie pacifiers & a stroller/carseat toy (Ocean Wonders Portable Mobile). Next stop, Marshall's. This trip they definitely did not disappoint me (I secretly hope they will so I will not be inclined to spend money, but not the case today). I found our Tummy Time Mat for way lower than anywhere else, plus got a package of Munchkin disposable mats (great for use as a lap pad, burp cloth, etc.) and a set of soft-tip spoons. Third stop was Walmart, where I had to do some light grocery shopping for dinner since I made chicken parmigana, wholegrain spaghetti and garlic cheesy bread. I got some more bump shots printed (and updated my belly book later in the day) and then scoured their clearance/baby deals. Found the Gerber prefold cloth diapers (which we plan to use with diaper covers in the beginning, plus as burp cloths and general mess cloths), no-scratch mittens, and a package of 2 waterproof crib sheets/mattress protectors. While there I was also able to do some price comparisons and found them to offer cheaper prices on some of our items from BRU and Target...so made sure to make note of that for later purchases. Final stop was the Bell's outlet by the house to pick up a 3 pack of canvas organization totes and Gator stickers for decorating. I love Friday shopping there since they give you 10% off your total purchase...woot, woot! Maybe tomorrow we will hit Target to look at their sales, but we shall see what plans develop between now and then.
After getting some homework done (boo!), I cleaned up the registry list and started writing our my packing list since we plan on packing in 2 weeks (34 week point). I also got the rest of my patterns cut out for the remaining 3 sewing projects I have and got the extra Boppy Pillow cover laid out, cut and pinned so Husby can help me by sewing it tomorrow. It was a VERY productive day to say the least. Although I have my "homework" for the week in each of my classes done, I still need to check-in on my class' discussion boards and be actively reading/posting the remainder of the weekend (typically an hour or so 2x a day) and I probably should write my paper this weekend since IL's visit on Wednesday and lobster hunting is Friday (no worries, I am not hunting...IL's and Husby are going diving while I hang on the shore) and next weekend is jam-packed between lunch and dinner plans with family on Saturday and Sunday we have another round of class (1st class this weekend!).

Another 1 bites the dust
The Toy Sack got finished tonight. Unfortunately, there are no pictures to post since I am waiting until we hang it on the wall. Laying it down does not justice for how it looks or will look when hung onthe wall. Husby is finishing redoing the shelves for the nursery, so once they get completed and reinstalled on the walls, I will get some pictures up for you all to see.
Here is it laying on the Changing Table:
A more aerial shot:
We decided to do 1 short shelf and 1 long shelf on the wall by the changing table. The long shelf will have a bar installed so the quilt Husby and I are working on will hang from it there. The other long shelf will be reinstalled over the closet, just like it used to be. Hopefully, then Husby will go through his Hot Wheels surfer car collection and pick out the best ones to hang back in the nursery.
Nursery projects are getting knocked off the list more and more each day. I am glad since we are down to the last 8 weeks! I started making a list tonight of everything we still need to find/purchase....it is a bit daunting to see a 4 pg Word document, but a lot of it is minor things like health and beauty aids and grocery items for post-partum. I'm accumulating my coupons and hoping our main stores have some sales in the next few weeks so I can stock up at a lower cost...otherwise it will be budget hunting (which I enjoy too!).

Word of Wisdom for the Newlyweds...
Since a lot of my friends are getting married or recently got married...I felt this post was sort of "timely". Granted I am not a master or pro at marriage (nor will anyone really ever be, no matter how old they are or how long they have been married), and really what do I know?...I've only been married to Husby for a little over 2 years and together almost 5 years the end of this year, but I feel there is some wisdom I can pass on that I have learned in my short life as a Mrs.
::::::Drum roll, please:::::
Wisdom 1: Never underestimate the power of love.
It does magical things and will get you through some of the most difficult times in your lives. No matter what.
Wisdom 2: Never go to bed mad or angry or upset at one another.
Not only does it lead to a night of terrible sleep, but it starts the next day off on a bad note and typically tension and silence; two things you should never wake up to when you are near your love.
Wisdom 3: Don't sweat the small stuff (and that includes the flaws in Mr. Wonderful, your spouse)
Who cares that he forgot to put his shoes away or leaves dishes in the sink (one of my biggest pet peeves about Husby)...will the world come crashing down? Ultimately not! Is it an inconvience to have to pick up his shoes or trip over them in the morning or have to add the dishes to the dishwasher in the morning? Yes, but you will survive.
Wisdom 4: Which follows W3, establish ground rules when living under 1 roof.
So you are a neat freak (like me at times) and cannot stand a pile of dirty dishes or cups lying around. Make it known that you cannot stand it and wish Mr. Wonderful would clean up after himself. In most cases, if you ask, men will try to meet your needs/demands. Be willing to do favors for him as well. Maybe he hates how you do something and wishes you would stop.
Wisdom 5: Be willing to compromise.
C-O-M-P-R-O-M-I-S-E. Say it with me. Each should give up one "bad habit" and make a conscience effort to follow through and really give it up.
Wisdom 6: Make time for one another.
Maybe you have fun by cuddling on the couch after a long day, or going for a walk, or cooking together. Whatever it is, make sure to always pencil that into your busy schedules. It does not need to be a grandiose event, just something simple as a time where you two can be close and the only thing in the world pressing at that moment is your relationship and you two.
Wisdom 7: Keep a date night.
Once again, it does not need to be a swoon-worthy event, but make one day or evening a specified date night for yourselves each week. It can include taking a walk on the beach or playing mini golf or seeing a movie or a quiet movie night at home. Some of our best date nights are the cheapest evenings we spend together. Typically, they are not every week, but we strive for every week. If you only fit in 1 a month, so be it. Life is busy, but make sure you do not let it wrap you up and miss our on growing your relationship and bond stronger.
Wisdom 8: Admit when you are wrong.
It's ok to be wrong, just remember to admit it. No one is perfect and if they say they are, then they are lying.
Wisdom 9: Explore one another.
Try to learn one new thing about your significant other each week. Make it a game or whatever, but find something new or unique about them each week.
AND LASTLY....
Wisdom 10: Find the humor in life.
One thing I have learned about my relationship with Husby is that we have many flaws, but together we are a very strong, united front. We have our rough days, but we get through them together and that is the most important thing about those days. In the 4+ years we have been together, we have grown together. We have learned to look past our individual flaws and work to better ourselves together. Nowadays, we make fun of ourselves (and one another) for our flaws. We are comfortable together, and this allows us to make fun of one another. I know I can pick on Husby for his snoring or his forgetfulness to put the dishes in the dishwasher, because at the end of the day he knows I am not mad at him for it, and it is likely I will do something he will make fun of me for (like going behind him and cleaning up and moving things on him-one of his biggest pet peeves about me). Be a united front together and the troubles in life will be less troublesome. If you allow a wedge to be built between you two, then your problems will only be bigger and more challenging.

Hamper Remodel
So remember the $5 hamper we found a few weeks back at Marshall's? Well, it has been redone...
The Original Hamper
The New Hamper
$5 Hamper + a coat of Black Paint + Some Wood Glue + Turtle Fabric + Turquoise Bias Fabric = New Hamper
Ramblings of a preggo at midnight...
With the countdown now getting to the low 60's, the reality of it all is beginning to set in. We still have a lot of things to make, purchase, or find for the nursery and Baby G. Thankfully, I have some really awesome, wise friends to turn to for advice, but my list of things to choose from is still pretty large. Lately, if I am not working on my Grad work and researching for those papers/discussions/etc., I am researching baby stuff. My list of things to research, you ask...well here it is...
Breast Pump: Medela Pump in Style Advanced or Medela Freestyle or another brand?
Numerous of my "bumpies" (and our lactation consultant) recommend the PISA and this is our first choice, but I like the hands-free ability of some of the other models. Our insurance covers it, so cost is not a major deal-breaker.
Guess I will just have to research which one I can get from the pharmacy and go from there.
Cloth Diapers:
I am not even sure where to begin on this tab since there are so many brands and everyone loves a different one. I think we will pick up a few different types and experiment to figure out which ones we like best...most likely we will stick with some AIO's, and insert liner type to make changes easier, but we shall see. I picked up some Gerber pre-folds to have on hand already and will fill in with the rest of the fluff in a few weeks.
Diaper Pail: Arm & Hammer Pail or Baby Trend Diaper Champ?
We are hybrid diapering for convenience, so we will still need a diaper pail for the disposables. Both are highly recommended, and can use their bags or even just regular trash bags...so which one to choose?
Activity Gym/ Tummy Time Mat: Fisher Price Ocean Wonders, Fisher Price Precious Planet, Infantino Tummy Time Surf Mat....
I think because we are both surf/beach nuts, we will go with the FP Ocean Wonders gym and the Tummy Time mat surfboard...but are there any other better versions?
Baby Carrier: BabyBjorn or Lillebaby
We are planning to get a sling for the beginning and then move to a more orthopedic carrier as well, but which is the best? Again depends on the person....as I think we like the Lillebaby the best and the Moby wrap the best (at least this week) ;)
Umbrella Stroller: Maclaren, Amycoe, First Years, Especially for Baby
I like the First Years the best, Husby likes the Especially for Baby one...and everyone recommends the other ones....which to choose? LOL
Bottles: Dr. Brown's, Playtex Ventaire, TommyTippee, etc.
Yea, so just like the cloth diapers, we are probably going to buy a starter pack of bottles of various brands and find out which ones work best...although I am pretty sure we will be siding with Dr. Brown's since everyone swears by them, but we shall see what Baby G likes.
So many choices. If someone reads this and has more advice that may sway us, please, please, please feel free to leave a comment with your recommendations. It will definitely come down to the wire as to which to choose and your input may be helpful in choosing since we are not very picky. Guess when we do our next BRU trip in Otown, we will narrow and make our selections, but that still leaves me a week and half to change my mind 500 times...
At least we have finalized we are hybrid diapering (cloth and disposables), hybrid feeding (breast milk, supplemented with formula when needed, as well as, making our own solid foods and only occasionally using prepared foods), and I get to keep my part-time work schedule of teaching (aka hybrid mommying). And Baby G is sleeping in the PacknPlay basinnet in our room for the first few weeks and then transferring to his own crib due to its location.
Now, if we could decide on a name and finish organizing and preparing for Baby G's arrival, this preggo could sleep a little easier. The early contractions are definitely becoming more apparent, so our next appointment should be quite interesting, especially since we will be 32/33 weeks then.
Time is definitely flying by. Tonight we did our hospital tour and got some questions answered. I <3 our hospital since we will have a private L& D room with an unlimited visitor amount and a private recovery/post-partum room. Plus, the views are decent since it is the top floor of the hospital and the rules are tolerable. I can get a shower during labor, use water therapy, use a birthing ball and have music and watch movies throughout. I also was excited to hear I can have popsicles and maybe some other icy type things (depends on the OB), and Sonic is literally 2.5 minutes from the hospital (and opened late). Husby was happy to hear we have wireless and he can pop over to the gym since it is next door and the chairs are pull-out couches (although we hear not the comfiest) so he can hangout with my throughout. Baby G will be rooming with us and whenever he has somewhere to go, Husby is allowed to go with him, so that was a bit more reassuring.
The rest of this week is pretty quiet. I am hoping to get ahead on my next week's worth of assignments and write my second courses' project this week, since after this weekend it will be busy, busy, busy. Sunday starts our 5-week Childbrith classes (hope we get to graduate!), Monday Husby has another business trip (until Wednesday afternoon) and I have a Dr. Appt., Wednesday evening Husby's family arrives, Thursday is fishing, Friday we are lobster fishing and diving (well the boys are, Mom and I will probably just relax on the beach). Saturday we send the in-laws on their way to visit Husby's sister, then we go to Otown to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins, Chinese buffet and relaxing visit, then some BRU shopping, and then dinner and visit with my "sisters". Sunday is another class and maybe some bowling since league starts up again soon. Following Tuesday is our meeting with the Anesthesiologist (yes I am ok with some pain medicine and medical intervention). The rest of that week is the "calm before the storm" since the following week I go back to teaching and start my final grad class. Husby also starts Grad School within those 2 weeks (Thankfully his company is cover the tuition cost, but still we will have 2 whole months of overlap of Grad school and likely a baby in those 2 months). Labor Day weekend my mom visits and the rest of September is wait and see and keep teaching to keep busy. If my blogging gets sparse, at least you have a warning why, LOL. So much to think about and do in the next 60 days...hopefully it makes the time move by smoothly yet quickly.

Over the Nursery Door
Over the door we placed this hologram-like image of an underwater scene. I plan to use some of the Nemo decals on the sides of it to liven the dead space up, but this is all tentative. The decals and name letters will probably be one of the last things to go on the wall.

Shelves next to changing area
Previously, these shelves were an off-white color and were used in the walkway of our kitchen.
We used them to hold my Dad's German Mug collection, but since we redid the walkway and made it an arch, we decided the shelves no longer fit in the kitchen and the mugs would be better displayed on top of the cabinets around the kitchen.
So we decided to recycle them!
We found a cheap can of sand-texture spray paint at Walmart and Husby meticulously sprayed a coat or two on the shelves to make them fit more to our theme.
The top shelf has some photo frames (the 2 white ones I made earlier) and a Precious Moments picture from Husby's nursery. The books we have collected so far are also on this shelf. We plan to split the books between this shelf and a shelf in the closet. Currently, a bottle of shampoo is acting as a bookend, but that is because we have not found one yet. I think we will end up constructing a customized one if we do not find one soon, since they are an easy woodworking project.
This is the White Round Frame redone for Baby's boys monthly pictures.

It's All Coming Together Now...
After some recent bargain hunting and clearance sale stalking, I have been able to fill in some things for the nursery, including some onesies and outfits. Then today, our furniture arrived. The delivery guy installed and built everything and except for one minor glitch in a drawer rail system, the furniture is spectacular!

New Project
I "adopted" Peejay, the Sock Monkey, today. The directions say it is an easy project, so hopefully over the next few days while I am running solo, I will be able to complete him.
First Loads of Laundry....Done!
I managed to get through washing everything we have thus far for Baby G. It was a small lights loads and a rather large colored load. Since the dresser comes tomorrow, I was not able to put everything away where I wanted it to go. However, after the dresser arrives, I should be able to organize things into some more drawers and then find some baskets to organize the rest of the stuff as it comes in or is purchased.
Here is the current system so far:

We intend to get some baskets for more organization on the shelves in the closet (in the center area) and for the shelf near the changing area for storage of HBAs.
I am excited for tomorrow's delivery, as it is another indicator of Baby G's arrival. We still have a ton of things to do, but it is all beginning to fall into place.

For our Bookworm...
I also finished sewing 2 more soft books for the nursery tonight, since Husby was occupied with installing the closet.
*The 2 Books*
*Titled: Treasure Bears (aka Pirate Teddys)*
*Another Winnie the Pooh Book: Seasons of Adventure*
Closet System Installed!
*Two different angles of the nursery closet*
*Another angle of the closet*
It has 3 drawers and 4 adjustable shelves in the center console
Also, it has 3 bars for hanging clothes; 2 are high and 1 is low
It also has 2 other storage shelves; one really high (but unfortunately, very narrow with the top of the ceiling) and the other is right above the low hanging bar.
