Week 9

So we are officially at Week 9. So far things are moving slowly and I hope it continues that way. Ther biggest side effect is the fatigue and everlasting exhaustion I feel. I never want to get up or out of bed in the morning.

We are planning a quiet weekend at home, so I can rest and *hopefully* catch up on my sleep. As usual, I have homework and am hoping to get ahead on my paper due in a week and half. We shall see if I stay awake enough to get through it.

Open Letter...

Dear Baby G (as you are currently so affectionately named),

Mommy and Daddy are so excited you have decided to check-in to Hotel Greene, but Mommy has a few requests.

1. Please stop pressing on Mommy's bladder. It is very hard to teach a class when you have to pee every 10 minutes.
2. Please stop bouncing on Mommy's lungs and diaphragm. This locvely trick of yours was a great way to announce your presence, but it's getting old fast. Mommy cannot deal with shortness of breath for the next 7 months.
3. Mommy knows you will be the spitting image of Daddy, but honestly, you do not need to eat like him too. Mommy asks that you choose salads and fruit over the Mexican food and sweets, please. Her tummy can only handle so much spicy foods before it sends up a white flag.
4. Also, just to give you a heads up. We know you are still growing, but when you get bigger you may feel the urge to practice your soccer kicks. You have great genes for being a soccer player someday, but right now you should limit your soccer kicks, so Mommy is not mad at you.
5.We hope you enjoy your stay. We cannot wait to meet you in September, but please do not be like all of Mommy and Daddy's friends' babies and overstay your welcome.

Hope you like your temporary home, and we will see you soon.

Love,
Your Mommy & Daddy

Doctor's Visit

So it is confirmed, I am carrying a stowaway. We had our second appointment, first ultrasound today. Things are looking good. The doctor says the baby looks good, its heartbeat is wonderful and strong and the baby is very photogenic.

He estimates the development around 8 weeks, and 3 days, so it falls along with most of the predictions. My due date is estimated as September 29th, 2010, but I am hoping I come a little sooner, so I do not miss too much school time (Hopefully optomistic, haha).

Fingers crossed things continue this way. All my bloodwork has been great (boring is what the doctor said) and the baby looks good on the ultrasound. Next appointment is in four weeks (I can hardly wait!) on March 22 and wewill hopefully hear the heartbeat since we could just see it today. I probably have a bunch of tests and another ultrasound, so more pictures! No M/S thus far, and I hope it continues.

That is all for now. I am taking the rest of the day easy, catching up on TV, playing on the computer, catching up on light tasks around the house and crafting.

February

So the whole pregnancy is beginning to sink in. I hope it is not all in vain, but my first ultrasound will be Monday (fingers crossed we see the heartbeat and development). Life in general is progressing well. Husby and I have been madly working on the house (some days I wish it was all done, but then I see the final product and am happy). We moved the office out of the bedroom across from the Master bedroom and to the back Florida room since that was unutilized space. Now we have that bedroom to convert to the baby's room. We pretty much have an idea of what we want in terms of furniture and we have our theme picked out. Hopefully we will be able to make it all work, but that is not a current project. After he finishes sanding and staining the desk, it will get installed and the remainder of the sewing/craft stuff will get evicted from the bedroom and the office area will be completed. Then it's the guest bathroom and Husby's idea of painting, blacksplash tiling and some minor cosmetic repairs to the room. After that is the baby's room and the kitchen probably close to the same time...depending on how much of a discount a friend of ours can get us on kitchen cabinets. We shall see since finances is important at this point. I sortof hope the kitchen gets done before the baby comes so we do not have a disaster with a newborn, but who knows. I also need the kitchen redone so I have cabinet and counter space....dreaming of my pantry cabinet/closet!

Since we may have a new arrival in the household, I started fully investigating my degree plan. I am halfway through and am going to start doubling up on my courses so I can (fingers crossed) have just one class (and be about halfway through) around my EDD. If I choose to walk, graduation is in Miami around Feb. 5th, 2011. So excited, although not sure I will want to do the whole graduation thing again, but once again we shall see.

Week 6!

We visited the doctor on Tuesday. It was mainly an informational session and then they sent me to get more bloodwork done. According to my beta levels, I am still pregnant and progressing well...levels looked good and high.

Next appointment is Feb. 22nd where they will doo a U/S and listen for the heartbeat(s). I am so looking forward to the appointment and knowing things are really going well. I really am hoping for a healthy baby, but if there are two or more in there, then that is even better. Fingers crossed these next few weeks move quickly.

At 6 weeks:
This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean.

Blood results in!

Blood results came back yesterday. Turns out I am five weeks along! So far, so good. Here is a picture of me the day after the HPT came back +.

It is already Week 5. Last week about this time our life changed, after just one pee on a stick test. Doctor's appointment Tuesday where hopefully we will see the embryo and see/hear the heartbeat to verify the pregnancy is off to a good start. We are planning a quiet, relaxing weekend of homework, house projects, and TV/movie watching since it is supposed to rain this weekend.
